Loom Weaving Course — Level 1

Loom weaving course announcement
The loom is a heritage tool once widely used to craft many traditional products — rugs, carpets, shawls, upholstery, and more. As modernity advanced, this craft nearly disappeared. In an effort to revive it and introduce it to a new generation and to women who wish to learn it, Higher Metn Artisan in cooperation with Nabil Saad Arts Studio offered two loom weaving courses during 2022. The first course was held in May 2022, as part of the 'Thread's End' initiative launched by artist Nabil Saad from his studio in Burja, Iqlim Al-Kharoub. He invented a new, simplified loom — affordable and easy to use — which is the tool used in training. Following the strong reception of the first course, a second course was offered in August 2022. We extend great appreciation to artist Nabil Saad for his commitment to Lebanon's history and heritage, and for his 'Thread's End' initiative — a most worthy endeavor. Our gratitude goes to all participants for their desire to master this craft. This course was delivered by the founder and president of Nabil Saad Arts Studio in Burja, visual artist Nabil Saad, at Higher Metn Artisan's headquarters in Ras Al-Matn.
