Professional
Sewing Principles Course

Given the importance of the subject and the pressing need amid deteriorating living conditions, it has become essential for homemakers to possess skills that help minimize household expenses while economic hardship persists.
Repairing clothing and fabrics at home has become both a necessity and a practical tool in household management.
Specialist Mrs. Adal Nuwayhed volunteered to lead training and supervision for all courses, except for the second course in Khraybeh Al-Matn, which was taught by volunteer Mrs. Samiha Al-Banna. We are proud of the 45 participants in these courses.
The sewing principles course is not about fashion design — it is about empowering homemakers to maintain the proper appearance of their family's clothing and household textiles (garments, bed sheets, curtains), helping families economize and extend the life of fabrics during times of financial difficulty.
The courses were offered across several Upper Metn villages, launching in May from the village of Qornayel and concluding in October 2022 in the village of Deir El-Harf, in cooperation with: Qornayel Official Secondary School, Samiha Al-Banna's workshop in Khraybeh Al-Matn, the Helping Hands Association in Al-Qreyyeh, the Arson Women's Charitable Association, Caritas Lebanon's Upper Metn Region — Hamaana Center, and Saint Joseph Medical Clinic in Deir El-Harf.
Each course covered: using needle and thread to repair fabrics, identifying stitch types and their uses, creating and repairing buttonholes, attaching and removing buttons, repairing and replacing zippers, mending tears in fabric, and hemming or lengthening garments without a sewing machine.
