Garment Pattern-Making and Tailoring Fundamentals

Garment tailoring course — Hamaana
Higher Metn Artisan in cooperation with several local partners offered two courses in garment pattern-making and tailoring fundamentals, taught by specialist Mrs. Adal Nuwayhed. - The first course was held in the village of Deir El-Harf, Upper Metn, in cooperation with Saint Joseph Medical Clinic and Deir El-Harf Sports Club. - The second was held in the village of Hamaana, Upper Metn, in cooperation with Caritas Lebanon's Upper Metn Region, Hamaana Center. We salute the 15 participants for their dedication and enthusiasm in learning and mastering the craft. The course was offered for three key reasons: the strong demand among Upper Metn residents to learn garment pattern-making, opening the door for fashion enthusiasts to understand tailoring fundamentals; the desire of some to acquire a skill that can generate income amid difficult economic conditions; and Higher Metn Artisan's responsibility to equip people with a professional skill as part of its founding mission. The course covered how to take accurate measurements, draw patterns before cutting fabric, and produce blouses, skirts, and dresses. We hope to offer these courses again in the future, reaching the largest possible number of participants.
